Silica Gel Desiccant, White Non-Indicating Beads, No Cobalt Chloride

A woman in California recently emailed, saying she wanted to use silica gel beads to dehumidify a closet in her coastal home.  It's not an application I typically seek out, but, hey, why not?

Silica gel beads adsorb humidity whether they're in a compressed air dryer or handing from a mesh bag in a closet. Unfortunately at the time I only offered blue indicating beads.  The blue-to-pink indicator in these beads is cobalt chloride, which may pose risks to human health if ingested.  The woman said that she had pets and small children.  For good reasons, she didn't want blue desiccant beads sitting around the house.

It was too bad that I couldn't help her.

But now I've added two silica gel desiccant products that contain no cobalt chloride and can be considered for humidity control applications where human exposure is a concern.  White indicating silica gel beads have no color change properties at all.  Yellow silica gel beads use phenolphthalein to change green when saturated.

Both products are available in 55 lbs bags with free shipping at truly exceptional prices, if you're needing the material in bulk.  Shop now for bulk silica gel.

As always, please be in touch if you have any questions.
