The D2 is a simple and effective inline compressed air dryer that removes water vapor from up to 7 CFM. The D2 is ideal for protecting a single paint gun, plasma cutter, or pneumatic tool from the harmful affects of wet compressed air.
How it works. The D2 is filled with ultra long-lasting Dry-O-Lite desiccant tablets. These tablets have a strong affinity for water vapor and last longer than traditional desiccant, such as silica gel and activated alumina. Wet compressed air enters the D2, contacts the Dry-O-Lite, then exits. Dry compressed air is now ready for use.
Installation. Simply attach compressed air piping to the 1/2" NPT inlet and outlets of the D2. The unit is lightweight and supported by the piping. For best results, locate the dryer as close as possible to the point-of-use before any pressure regulator. Add Dry-O-Lite tablets to the dryer (included). Connect a drain line to the 1/4" ball valve at the base of the D2 and direct liquid to a nearby receptacle. Dry-O-Lite desiccant will not remove oil mist from the compressed air, so consider installing a coalescing filter if oil is harmful to your application.
Maintenance. Open the drain valve after each 8 hours of operation to remove liquid from the dryer. You never need to remove Dry-O-Lite tablets from the dryer. The tablets slowly dissolve and exit through the drain as liquid. Monitor the desiccant level through the site glass. Add new Dry-O-Lite tablets as necessary. Replacement Dry-O-Lite is available in 1.5 lbs. pouches or 18 lbs pails.
What is innovative about the D2? What makes it better than other point-of-use dryers ? It all comes down to operating cost. The cost of an air dryer is not just the initial price you pay. It’s also the expense of replacement media. Read the reviews around the web. You’ll see. Too often dryer replacement media costs one third or more of the dryer itself. More important, how long does the media last?
This is where the D2 slays the competition. Dry-O-Lite lasts longer and costs less than conventional desiccants. It's also highly resistant to compressor oil, unlike other desiccants. So getting a bit of lubricant into the D2 will not ruin the media.
